I had fourteen reels of 8 mm. home movies from the 1950's and 1960's that my family hadn't viewed in years. We had tried to transfer them to VHS many years ago, but the results were awful: colors appeared faded and, even worse, the movies seemed much speedier than I remembered -- almost like watching an old Keystone Cops film. (What I didn't realize then was that the transfer to VHS had been done at a speed that did not match the frame-per-second ratio used to shoot the movies originally.)
For a digital transfer that would correct these flaws and get the movies onto DVD, I researched a number of film-to-video production houses. I chose Forever on DVD for their technical sophistication, pricing, and personal accessibility of the owner, Shawn. My goal in October was to have the transfer completed in time for the Christmas season.
When I saw the initial cut of the new digital transfer, I was floored. The movies appeared exactly as I remembered them, and even better. Colors were restored as closely as the original film would allow, images were sharp and crisp, and the speed of the movies was exactly what it was when they were filmed.
Shawn worked very closely with me to achieve some editing, special effects, titles and even a soundtrack. The final result was, and is, truly amazing. Forever on DVD brought my family's home movies to life and preserved them for posterity. I ordered several copies of the finished DVD's to give as Christmas gifts to family members. They've become heirlooms.
Forever on DVD provided highest-quality transfers, professional service and a very assuring personal touch. Shawn and the staff were attentive and responsive at every step along the way. And now my family is enjoying those irreplaceable old home movies again and again. A great outcome all around! |
